Non-Compete Settings
The non-compete feature allows you to configure your program to prevent entities within the same advertiser or advertiser group to bid against one another.
When competing on the same auction, the CPC of the highest bidder will be determined against the next highest bidder. But if the two bidders belong to the same advertiser, the following bidder will be used to determine CPC. The second highest bidder will be skipped.
You can opt into the following options for configuration:
- Off (meaning all bids compete)
- Within Advertiser (meaning bids within an advertiser, campaign or ad group don't compete – this is our default)
- Within Advertiser Group (meaning bids within a group of advertisers and their campaigns or ad groups don't compete)
See campaign structure to help you choose the best option for your marketplace.
Holding Company or Franchisee Use Cases
In the holding company or franchisee use case (where you will have multiple advertisers running concurrent campaigns), we suggest using the advertiser group setting and setting up a group for the holding company/brand level.
This allows a holding company/brand and a franchise belonging to the same brand to participate in the same auction, without competing or inflating the CPC.
