Using a Tag Manager
Overview
Koddi's ads tag enables publishers to deploy onsite advertising with minimal technical effort. By adding a single tag to your site, our platform automatically learns your page structure, allowing you to configure ad placements via a visual UI. There’s no need for backend development or complex data mapping.
- The primary goals of this implementation are to:
- Launch scalable display ads with zero manual configuration.
- Use your existing tag manager as the single point of deployment.
- Eliminate engineering overhead by removing the need for CSS selectors or data layer variables.
- Maintain high standards for privacy, consent, and site performance.
Implementation Steps
Step 1: Add the Koddi Tag
Add the Koddi tag to your site using your preferred tag manager.
- Zero Configuration: This is a single script inclusion.
- Flexible Data Mapping: You do not need to define data layer mappings or manual placement selectors to get started, as the tag works out of the box. However, if you have a robust data layer readily available, you have the option to map those signals to enhance targeting—though this is entirely optional.
Step 2: Automatic Page Learning
Once the tag is live, the platform enters a "Learning Mode" when it encounters a page for the first time.
- Analysis: Koddi analyzes your page structure to understand your product grids, search results, and category layouts.
- User Experience: No ads are shown during this initial learning phase, ensuring there is no impact on the user experience while the platform calibrates.
Step 3: Configure Placements in Koddi Ads UI
After the learning phase is complete, technical configuration moves out of the Tag Manager and into the Koddi Ads UI.
- Visual Mapping: You will see a visual representation of your site.
- Point-and-Click: Specify exactly where advertising should appear (e.g., within search results or above them) by selecting them visually. You control the placement; Koddi handles the rendering logic.
Step 4: Ads Go Live
After configuring placements in the UI, return to your site to verify. Sponsored products will now appear seamlessly in the specified locations, automatically styled to match your existing product displays without any additional CSS work.
What Makes This Different
Traditional ad integrations require manual labor that is difficult to maintain. Koddi’s modern approach eliminates that overhead:
- Zero Configuration: No data layer mappings or selector definitions
- Adaptive: The platform automatically learns and adapts to your site’s organization.
- Visual Control: Configure placements through an intuitive UI rather than code.
- Seamless Rendering: Ads match your site’s native look and feel automatically.
Privacy, Consent, and Compliance
The integration is designed to work within your existing privacy frameworks:
- Trigger Management: Use your tag manager to ensure the Koddi tag only fires when proper user consent (CMP) signals are met.
- Exclusions: You maintain full control over where the tag runs; it is recommended to exclude the tag from firing on sensitive pages such as checkout, payment, or account management screens.
- Performance: The tag is lightweight and loads asynchronously to ensure it does not interfere with page load speeds.
